I found this brief Trading Mistakes video from my Climb up Mount Kilimanjaro in 2016 and realized that I had never posted it to my blog. I came to a startling realization about the impact of mistakes as I climbed towards the summit, panting for breath in the thin air. Sorry for my heavy breathing, but it is pretty tough to climb over 4000m above sea level! Watch the video above…don’t forget to like and share the page! Hi, its Adrian here, it’s day four to climb to the summit of Kilimanjaro, which you can see up behind me there. We are at currently 13,800 feet, which is 4,200 meters above sea level.

One of the things that occurred to me in the last climb, we just climbed up about, maybe about 800 or so vertical feet, it’s a pretty high climb in this altitude. I’m just watching my feet one step at a time and I realized that each step on its own doesn’t really matter that much, none of your steps are going to get you to the summit you can see up there on the side of the video.

But if you take one step wrong, it can take away the amount of energy or lose the energy that you needed for the next four steps or next five steps.

It’s exactly the same when you are trading.

If you are making a trade, one trade is not going to make you rich, it’s not going to get you the financial result that you are after. But if you make a mistake on a trade, it can set you back three, four, five, ten trades or more, and really cause your account some damage.

So the lesson from the mountain from today or from this morning at least is every step matters and that you’ve got to do it well, you’ve got to eliminate mistakes, but you can’t rely or expect any one step to get you to the summit or to get you to the trading goal that you’ve set for yourself.
